About the Artist

The beginning of my story is pretty common: I had a corporate job, but I craved something more. I would spend 50 hours a week at work, then I would go home to sew things until I passed out from exhaustion. I made clothes for myself. I made clothes for my friends. I made period clothing for museums. Most importantly, I made stuffed animals. Jayne Danger octo-plushies allowed me the freedom to leave my day job and pursue my dream of studying apparel design.

In December 2014, I graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor's degree in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design. I also studied abroad at the London College of Fashion, where I lived an incredible dream that I could not have imagined even one year prior! I attended seminars led by award winning costume designers. I walked the red carpet at a major movie premier. I learned from tutors who are in the costuming careers that I've always dreamed of.

I've interned, volunteered, or worked in costuming for the following organizations: Granger House Museum (Marion, IA), Usher's Ferry Historic Village (Cedar Rapids, IA), Living History Farms (Urbandale, IA), Iowa State University's Fisher Theatre (Ames, IA), Theatre Cedar Rapids (Cedar Rapids, IA), and Brucemore Historic Estate (Cedar Rapids, IA).

I started this blog to share what I have learned about following our hearts and starting a business. I want to share with you everything that I wish someone had shared with me when I started my journey.
