Closing of a Chapter

The time has come! Jayne Danger will be closing its doors on December 31st, 2015, just two short months away. I want to thank everyone for all of your support, and I hope you'll stick around for the projects to follow.

I've gotten a lot of questions and concerns about the closing of the shop, so I thought I'd post a quick explanation for you here. :)

First and foremost, let's set the stage!
My dream for the last 15+ years of my life has been to sew costumes full-time!

Jayne Danger began in January 2009 as a concept for a rock 'n roll-inspired, DIY clothing brand, so that I could build my portfolio for design college. Somehow, octo-plushies happened instead, and I decided to just go with it! I loved how happy they made my customers, and they allowed me to learn all the ins and outs of running a business on a smaller scale than a clothing brand.

Within a few years, the success of Jayne Danger octo-plushies allowed me to leave my Day Job, relocate across the state, and study apparel design/construction at college. I was even able to spend a semester studying at the London College of Fashion - a dream come true! While in college, I worked as a period clothing intern (and then historical hat/dressmaker) at a living history museum, a shopgirl in an awesome vintage shop, and a costume assistant at my college's theatre.

Since graduating in  December 2014, I have been overwhelmed with costuming opportunities (woohoo!), and I'm no longer able to dedicate time to Jayne Danger octo-plushies.  You have probably seen the empty Etsy shop and me scrambling to finish theatrical costumes while selling octo-plushies at conventions. Jayne Danger helped me reach my dreams, but now that I am here, I need the time I'd normally spend making octo-plushies to make costumes instead. This is how we've reached the End of Jayne Danger. <3

I intend to clear out my Jayne Danger fabric inventory by creating dozens of one-of-a-kind octo-plushies and dragons before the end of the year. I hope you will all understand that I am no longer able to create any custom plushies, however, I may to able to add small details to pre-made octos (top hats, scarves, etc). Please contact me with requests.

Thank you again for all of your support!
