Thoughts on "Luck"

The more successful you are in pursuing your goals, the more you'll hear the phrase, "you're so lucky that you..." However, I've always felt that calling it luck discredits the hard work someone has put into their life. On my last day of class in London, one of my teachers summed it up perfectly. He said:

Luck is the ability to recognize an opportunity and the courage and determination to see it through.

You make your own luck. If you want something, you have to take steps (even baby steps) toward that goal. As you put yourself out there, more doors will open, and you'll be considerably more "lucky." Ta da!
